The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work is a workshop designed for couples in a committed relationship, which aims to help them understand and apply, the research about what makes marriages work, compared to what makes marriages deteriorate and eventually fail.
WORKSHOP DETAILS
This 8 week online Seven Principles Workshop includes brief lectures, private couple exercises and recorded demonstrations. Registration includes the book The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work by John Gottman, and two either digital or hardcopy workbooks.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
This 8 module workshop provides evidence based tools to help couples strengthen their relationship with the aim to help:
- Develop skills in managing conflict constructively
- Improve friendship, fondness, and admiration
- Enhance romance and intimacy
- Gaining skills to address persisting and solvable problems
- Creating a sense of shared meaning and purpose
- Maintaining gains throughout the lifetime

FAQs
Will we have to share our personal problems and issues with the class? No. The class does not include sharing problems and issues with the group. Couple’s exercises are done privately.
Must both partners attend or can I come alone? Yes, the class involves exercises for couples, not individuals.
My partner isn’t a reader. Can we still attend if he/she won’t read the book? Yes, still attend. While the book provides valuable information, the brief lectures will summarise the content of the book. Each person will need the couples workbook however, to do the couple’s exercises efficiently. If there are any concerns, please let us know to work out a solution.
Is this workshop equivalent to therapy or counselling? No. This workshop is educational and aimed to build skills and knowledge. It is not a replacement for couples therapy.
